SpikeWAMP Addon how-to

This page describes how to install add-on applications on top of the SpikeWAMP stack.

Edit

Prerequisites

  • Make sure you have already installed the SpikeWAMP stack. If not, grab the installer and complete your SpikeWAMP installation. Here is the download link. You can either choose to install only the WAMP stack or the any of the applications running on top of WAMP.
  • After the installation, make sure the stack is working fine by selecting "Browse SpikeWAMP" menu item from the SpikeWAMP tray menu.
  • To install any application, start the Update and Add-on Installation Tool by clicking on "Install Add-ons" from the tray menu. You can also do the same by accessing "SpikeNet updates and Addons" from Start Menu -> All Programs -> SpikeWAMP. Then select the application you want from the list of add-ons. The applications that you can install currently is listed below. Feel free to post a request @ the SpikeWAMP forum if you need other applications.
  • Configuration Merge: After the tool is done with applying updates or installing an application, it will start up a command window for you to look at and merge any configuration differences. This should only be an issue if you have changed anything in any of the default configurations. Otherwise, the tool will try to merge any minor differences for you. In many cases, there won't be anything to merge at all.
  • Once everything is done make sure to start Apache and MySQL services by using the tray menu.
  • If there is any issue with any of the applications, the log of the installation is in <spikewamp-root>\spikesource\var\log\update.log. Take a look at this and post relevant sections on SpikeWAMP forum.

Rock and Roll!

Add-on Applications

Following add-on applications are current available on SpikeWAMP. We will keep adding more to the list.

Edit

Drupal

Drupal installation should be a breeze. After the add-on installation finishes, click on "Browse SpikeWAMP" feature in the SpikeWAMP traymenu. In the landing page, click on "Drupal" under Applications section. Alternatively you can browse to http://localhost/drupal/ directly. This should take you through some standard configuration pages. SpikeWAMP would have already auto-populated most of the values, so make sure you accept the default settings and proceed to the next steps. Shouldnt take more than a minute. Once you are done, Drupal is all yours.

Tips:

phpBB

After phpBB installation, click on "Browse SpikeWAMP" feature in the SpikeWAMP traymenu. In the landing page, click on "phpBB" under Applications section. SpikeWAMP would have already auto-populated most of the values, so make sure you accept the default settings and proceed to the next steps. Should be a piece of cake. For security reason you will have to delete some installation directories before you can use the site.
